A Spectacular Finale: The World Series 2023

 
 

The World Series 2023 concluded spectacularly, with over 300 pilots participating in this thrilling virtual competition. The series witnessed remarkable performances, culminating in the final race where the best gliders showcased their skills.

Poland's Witold Rozak emerged as the champion, amassing an impressive 13,226.98 points in the best 14 out of 16 races. Hot on his heels was Arne-Martin Guettler from Norway, who was recently crowned ‘World Virtual Sailplane Grand Prix Champion’, secured the second place with 13,062.20 points. The third podium spot was claimed by Australia's David Redman, who scored 13,051.19 points.

Congratulations to all the pilots for their exceptional skills and sportsmanship. Their dedication and competitive spirit made the event a huge success. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the competitors for making this series unforgettable.

Looking ahead, the announcement for the 2024 schedule is being eagerly anticipated. The organizers are closely monitoring the development of Condor 3 and are excited to transition to this new platform in the upcoming year. February 2024 marks the expected launch of the 1st Virtual World Gliding Championship. The event will take place in three phases, throughout the year. Moreover, we expect eSports Series events to take place prior this new official event.

The World Series 2023 was an international competition organized with the FAI - World Air Sports Federation. Virtual pilots competed in 16 races across 16 countries, promoting the sport globally. It aimed to establish a yearly Virtual Gliding Championship, attracting both current and aspiring glider pilots. The event was free, with evolving rules to prepare for a solid framework for the 2024 Virtual World Gliding Championship. Competitors raced in various classes and formats, accumulating points across the year. The series began in February 2023, concluding in Narromine, Australia, in December 2023.
